What do you know about silent killer?
Due to the nature of how
the disease works, hypertension is also called the silent killer, as in almost
all cases people can not feel high blood pressure and are not aware that they
have it.
The only way to really
tell if you have high blood pressure is to have a blood pressure reading. If
you do not seek medical help, high blood pressure can lead to numerous
complications, including damage to the arteries, brain,
heart and kidneys.
There are no symptoms as
long as the pressure is too high, or as long as it causes damage to vital
organs, such as the heart or kidneys. Everyone needs a blood pressure in their
arteries. When the heart beats, it pumps blood through the arteries to deliver
food to the tissues. The force of blood against the walls of arteries is called
hypertensive hypertension. Systolic pressure occurs after the heartbeat and is
the highest reading. The lowest pressure, or diastolic pressure, is the pressure
in the arteries between heartbeats. If the arteries or tubes narrow or become
blocked, then the heart pumps harder to distribute blood to the tissues, and
the pressure in the arteries rises.
If your blood pressure
is below 120 / 80mmHg, then you have a normal
healthy blood pressure. Maintain this tension and check again after a year.
If your blood pressure
is above 120/80 mmHg and less than 140/90 mHg you are at risk of becoming hypertensive,
so you should immediately take some steps to improve your lifestyle such as:
Quit smoking if you are a smoker
reduce your body weight
to a healthy level
and be more active
Include more vegetables
and fruits in your diet, reduce your salt intake and limit your fat intake - in
other words, eat healthy food every day as well as every year you should check
your blood pressure at the doctor.
If your blood pressure
is around or above 140/90 mmHg, you should
contact your healthcare staff to see if you have high blood pressure or if you
need to start treatment with medication to prevent heart attack and stroke. in
the brain.
